Extra section of Ebenseer Traun available to flyfishers

Until recently the section of the Ebenseer Traun that could be fished through Hurch Flyfishing started at the place where the Weissenbach runs into this river and was close to six kilometers long. These days an extra kilometer or so of the Ebenseer Traun, upstream from the Weissenbach, can be fished as well.

The Ebenseer Traun holds brown trout, grayling and rainbow trout, usually there are some large rainbow trout to be found where the Weissenbach enters the river.

We fished heavy nymphs on nylon leaders of 13 to 15 foot long plus weighted streamers on fast sinking polyleaders.

In one section opposite the “Naturmuseum Salzkammergut” some nice trout and grayling were caught by other flyfishers, we were not this lucky and found no fish willing to take our flies.

The river was still running quite high, in the strong flow not all good looking areas could be reached.
