The new season at the Gaula started in the night towards the 1st of June. Due to high temperatures a lot of snow had melted and the water level at Gaulfossen rose to 399 m³/second. But shortly after midnight the salmon were landed in the lower reaches, it looks it is going to be a good start of the season, because on the first day over forty salmon were registered.
During the night or in the early hours of the morning the water level started to drop. Stefano Stefanacco from Italy made good use of these circumstances and he landed the first fish from the beats of the Norwegian Flyfishers Club. His fish with a weight of something like ten kilos took a large orange tubefly. His friend Giulio Righini also managed to land a nice fish from the NFC L1 beat.
