The new Hardy® Ultralite® FW DD (Featherweight Disc Drag) fly reel is the lightest large arbor disc drag reel from Hardy to date. The reel provides the ulitmate in light-line performance and presentation. Designed to balance today’s super-light technical fly rods, the new FW DD’s ultra-smooth drag is the optimum choice for all modern day angling techniques.
Built from 6061 bar stock aluminum, the size 1000 (1/2/3 weight) is 3.15 inches in diameter and weighs a mere 2.9 ounces. The heaviest in the family, the size 4000 (4/5/6 weight) measures 3.74 inches in diameter and weighs just 3.6 ounces. They create a balance in ultralight fly tackle where each cast feels better than the last.
The setting on the 340-degree, color-coded multi-pad drag system can be identified with a simple glance as the red dots on the drag knob clearly indicate a stronger drag and lighter drag settings are indicated by green. The drag can be configured from zero to maximum in just one turn of the knob.
