The latest addition to Solid Adventure's list of world class destinations is the Kangia River Camp, located on the west coast of Greenland.

The latest addition to Solid Adventure’s list of world class destinations is the Kangia River Camp, located on the west coast of Greenland. From late June to mid September the Kangia river is invaded by thousands and thousands of searun char coming up the river from the sea to spawn. These silver char are like nothing you have ever seen. Pound for pound possibly the strongest freshwater fish out there these guys will beat you and your gear up good!

“Staying at our lodge located on a hill at the rivermouth we watch the run of fish move up the river from the sea while drinking our morning coffee or sipping on a well deserved cold beer from the lodge’s own bar in the evening."

“In terms of size the fish running up this particular river is probably the biggest in Greenland. Fish between 6 and 7 kg have been landed with fly gear with even bigger fish seen and lost. During our latest scouting trip in August 2016 we had fish up to 5 kg + (11 lbs +) hitting our flies on a regular basis but in regular fashion managed to loose some real seals. Sooner or later one of the real monsters of this river will be landed and we cannot wait for that to happen. The strength of these fish is almost unmatched and while fishing a 5 weight for this size of fish may seem the obvious thing to do we advice different. During our latest venture to Kangia we started off with #5 weight rods but had to go up to 7 and 8 weights to be able to push these guys around a bit. They simply don’t give up and will fight every second until they are unhooked and released back in the water. Even getting a quick heroshot is a problem as you will find out for yourself once you are here.”
