By sounding an ancient boat bell, Simeon Tienpont (skipper of team AkzoNobel in the Volvo Ocean Race), Joost Ringeling (show manager of Hiswa) and Paul Riemens (CEO Rai Amsterdam) officially opened the new Hiswa watersport show in Amsterdam Rai. The show will be held form the 8th until the 12th of March 2017.
Companies in the whole business chain of the Dutch watersports industry are members of HISWA; from yacht builders, brokers, marinas and charter companies to retailers and export. In all HISWA represents thirteen business trade sectors (including yards, marinas, charter companies, sailing schools, naval architects, yacht brokers, retailers, repair & refit services, marine equipment suppliers) taking care of 65% of the turnover in the industry.
Collective interests in the industry are strengthened by HISWA. HISWA participates in many committees and supports the promotion of the watersports industry towards consumers. The association also offers many products and practical support to its members. By doing this HISWA ensures that these members are recognisable as especially safe, environmental friendly and presenting the highest quality.
HISWA was established in 1932 as a boat show organiser. Nowadays HISWA Holland Marine Industry gives its name to two well respected boat shows: HISWA Amsterdam Boat Show (Amsterdam RAI) and Amsterdam in-water Boat Show (Amsterdam Marina).
