Another great week on the River Moy!

The River Moy had another excellent week in mid June with over 500 salmon reported. Angling was good throughout the system with suitable water levels and all fisheries reporting plenty of action.

On the Moy Fishery, Danish flyanglers, Thomas Vinge and Jan Brinch Hansen enjoyed excellent sport on Sunday catching 4 salmon (all released) between 3 lbs. & 6 lbs. Most fish fell for a small Red Francis tied by Thomas himself. Earlier in the day, Jan had already landed a grilse on the Cloongee Fishery which was also released. Other successful anglers on the Moy Fishery included Michael Childs, UK, with an 8.5 lbs. fish on fly and William Hayes, Northern Ireland, with a salmon weighing 7.25 lbs. also on fly.

Over 80 fish were reported from the Ballina Salmon Anglers water, while Frank Cliff, Switzerland, had a great week on Mt. Falcon with a total of eight salmon, best at 7 lbs. on fly. Coolcronan had its best week of the season so far with 20 salmon reported. On the Foxford Fishery, Peter Montgomery, Northern Ireland, landed an eight pounder on Spinner, while Rinanney and the Foxford Salmon Anglers stretch produced almost 80 fish for the week.

Further upriver on Cloongee, Przemek Grochowski, Poland, scored with 3 grilse on bubble & fly. Also on Cloongee, UK visitor, Keith Purves, had 3 fish on spinner, best at 9 lbs. Anglers on the East Mayo Anglers water also enjoyed another good week’s fishing with exactly 100 fish reported. Amongst the successful anglers were Camin Turner, Galway, with a 10 pounder on fly and Frank Woods, Louth, also with a 10 lbs. fish on fly.
