Redington matches rods, reels and line to skill sets

New from Redington this summer is a selection of multiple outfits designed to make fly-fishing more accessible to a broad range of skill sets.

Aiming to take the guesswork out of matching rods with the right reels and the appropriate lines, the Far Bank brand has introduced five set-ups spanning beginners, kids and experts. The Vice, Path, Crosswater, Topo and Minnow outfits appeared at both the EFTTEX and ICAST shows in Europe and the US respectively prior to going on sale.

The Vice builds on the success of the fast-action fly rod of the same name, which was launched last year, and is paired with the new i.D. reel and RIO Mainstream fly line. It comes with a rod and reel case and is available in four through to nine weights.

The medium-fast Path rod has received some cosmetic updates and is coupled with the redesigned Crosswater reel, RIO mainstream line and Corduba rod tube. The freshwater models range from four to nine weights, while the saltwater versions are in eight or nine weights.

Beginner anglers are the target for the Crosswater, a medium-fast action rod paired with a Crosswater reel and complemented by RIO’s Mainstream fly line and a rod sock. Available as either a two or four piece, the outfits range from four through to nine weights.

Everything needed to go fishing is contained in the Topo outfit, including a rod, Crosswater reel, RIO Mainstream line, tapered leader, fly box containing six flies, an extra spool of tippet and a nipper.

Young anglers are catered for with the redesigned Minnow outfit. Now at the shorter length of 8ft and with a smaller grip, this medium-action five weight rod is designed for easy casting. It comes with a pre-spooled RIO mainstream line on a Crosswater reel and with a Corduba rod tube.
