Wiley X takes on distributor for Baltic region

Wiley X, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of protective eyewear, has continued its international expansion with the appointment of a distributor for the fishing markets in the Baltic countries.

It has appointed Karlen LT to supply its products in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. The company is a relative newcomer to the fishing tackle market, but has huge experience in distributing premium products throughout the Baltic region.

Its founder and Managing Director, Jaroslav Tonkevič, said: “We are a new company in the fishing market, but have a lot of experience in offering premium products. We are very pleased to have the opportunity to share Wiley X’s 30 years of eyewear expertise with the anglers of the Baltic nations.”

Wiley X EMEA Vice President and Outdoor Director, Thomas Wæver, is confident that the deal will be successful for both companies. He said: “It is not every day that you meet a person like Jaroslav. His passion for growing brands drives him and he sees great potential in our eyewear range. He has been in the trade for years and has been growing premium brands across the region with great success.

“We signed the deal at EFTTEX earlier this year and Jaroslav has already visited our EMEA headquarters for product training. To help him test our different polarised styles we went pike fishing and he broke several of his own records, including his best ever pike.
“I can’t say whether it was down to the polarised eyewear or his fishing skills, but it was great fun. In fact we caught 59 pike in less than six hours.”
