Well known fly-tier and fly-fisher André Miegies will be showing his skills for the first time at the EWF in April of 2018. André has tied at numerous fly-fishing shows in the Benelux and the UK and he will be present now at the show in Munich too.

André Miegies turns 51 years this December and lives together with his lovely wife Wilma and dog Dexter in a small town called Soest, situated in the center of Holland, close to the big rivers and lakes. For André fishing is a way of life, for the last 30 years he fished only with a fly rod for pike, perch, bream, roach, ide and rudd, because The Netherlands don’t have rivers with salmon and trout in. Outside the Netherlands he fishes mostly for grayling and trout and every year he visits the Scandinavian countries for a holiday and some fishing. He has also fished in Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Scotland and he hopes there are more country to come.

Fly tying is for him even more important than fishing. Working with different kinds of material and creating something you can fool a fish with feels great!! He does not have a certain style, he actually ties everything from classic salmon flies to pike flies and everything in between. André Miegies is best known in the Netherlands for his perch flies and the presentations he gives on this subject at fly-shops, fishing shows and fly-fishing clubs. With his flies André catches good numbers of large perch (of over 40 centimeters in length) in the winter months. He has even caught a few perch over the magical mark of 50 centimeters in the Netherlands.
