Orvis has some new fly box styles ready for the approaching season, including the Ultralight Foam Box, the Dry Fly Box and the Tacky Collab Deluxe Fly Box.

The Ultralight model is made from moulded foam with micro slits in the interior, allowing the flies to be backed in while also protecting the foam. The flies are held in place much better, says Orvis, and if dropped in the water the box is easily retrievable. The lightweight box has a magnetic fastener and comes in large (6,25 by 3,75 by 1,25 inch) and medium (5 by 3,75 by 1,125 inch) sizes.

Described by Orvis as the next generation of fly box, the Dry Fly model has sticky silicone sheets and tear-drop cut-out slits to hold flies securely. The slim-line, clear, polycarbonate body is shatter-resistant and fits into a vest or pack pocket. Measuring 7 by 3,5 by 1,25 inch, it will accommodate 199 flies and is designed to preserve hackles and downward-facing tails.

The result of a collaboration between Orvis and Tacky, the Tacky Collab Deluxe is low profile but high volume – capable of holding 336 flies. Tacky’s facing silicone mats hold flies tight and have good resistance to the elements. The polycarbonate box is slim, won’t warp and has a magnetic catch. Measurements are 7 by 3.75 by 1 inch.
