At the weekend the Messe Augsburg, at which the JAGEN UND FISCHEN fair was held from 18 to 21 January 2018, thronged with just under 34,000 visitors. 311 exhibitors from 19 nations displayed their wide range of products, both traditional and innovative, over a total of 28,000 m2 floor space. In addition to this, expert information was available from the experts themselves, and a diverse program of activities for visitors to try out and get involved with was available – from archery to the rifle range, to the tester course in fly-fishing.

The trade fair CEO Gerhard Reiter was pleased to confirm, "We have consolidated and expanded our position as southern Germany’s largest and most popular trade fair for hunting and angling".

He went on to say that, “This is shown by the constant increase in the number of visitors to JAGEN UND FISCHEN as well as an increase in the number of exhibitors compared to last year”. At the end of the trade fair both visitors and exhibitors said that overall they were satisfied with what was on offer, turnover figures and the unique atmosphere of the trade fair. The archery trade fair AUGSBOW, that added bow and arrow related products in hall 4, was incorporated for the first time.

Ulrich Krafczyk, director of the Swabian Angling Association, and Dr Oliver Born, manager of the angling advisory department for Swabia, showed that he was satisfied with the high level of interest shown by visitors in the information stands.

This year organisers of the Special Angling Display are aiming in particular to raise the awareness of visitors with regard to the silting up of German waterways.

“The situation is dramatic,” explains Ulrich Krafczyk. More and more mud is carried into our streams and lakes as a result of rainfall patterns changing with more heavy downpours and less drizzle, and crop rotation no longer being practised on arable land. This is why our young anglers are putting an incubator on display at the trade fair as part of an aid project designed to protect species of fish spawning in gravel.”

Next year JAGEN UND FISCHEN will be held from the 17th to the 20th January 2019, right on target at Messe Augsburg!
