Industry figure looking for sponsors for fly fishing films

Well known European industry figure Francesco di Bene is looking for tackle manufacturers to help produce a series of films promoting fly fishing.

Di Bene, Design Director for Italian rods company Airrus, shot his first film during a visit to Patagonia and hopes to use it as a ‘showreel’ to get manufacturers involved. The film runs for eight minutes and can be found below. He is now planning a second ‘movie’ filmed during a road trip from Neuquen in North Patagonia down the Ruta 40 to Tierra del Fuego.

“We will be fishing some iconic spots as well as lesser known locations,” said di Bene, who stresses that the project is unrelated to Airrus. It will be an adventure-style film with a duration of about 35 minutes. We plan to have one Italian-speaking angler and an English-speaking one, along with subtitles, to reach the biggest possible audience. We have no problem using branded tackle and may be able to get one brand for each tackle type to help cover expenses. I estimate the total costs at around €15,000. We don’t plan to make a profit and we are happy to invest our own money, but sponsorship will help a lot. Promoting the sport in this way has to be good for the fly fishing industry, so we are hoping that we will get support.”
