With “ICAST on the Water” started on the 10th of July the largest fishing tackle trade show in the world, the ICAST – IFTD Show. This year the show for angling in general and for fly-fishing are still held in the same, combined location, next year the IFTD Show will move to Denver in October.

There were numerous party tents alongside the water on the north side of the Convention Center where stand holders could show their latest products and where these products could also be tested on the water.
The coming three days the trade show will be held in two major halls of the Convention Center in Orlando, with a much “cooler” atmosphere than outside. Below are a few products which may not be available until the Winter or the Spring of next year.
The new Biyak Boats kayaks feature two floating devices with which the kayak is easy to move around with. The new thing is that these floating pieces can be put 50 centimeters further apart, with which a very stable casting and fishing platform appears. Website: www.biyakboats.com.

Simms already showed a few of their new jackets in the party tent, it was not possible to show all of it there at the waterside. A new backpack was also shown of which the lower part can be turned to the front of your body for easy access. Website: www.simmsfishing.com.

At the water I had the chance to cast with the new Mojo Trout fly-rod by St.Croix. The rod comes in lengths from 6’ to 9’ for line-classes #2 through 7. The suggested retail price in the USA is between 180 and 210 dollars depending on the model, which is an attractive price point.
The rod has a moderate to fast action and casts well at short and long distances, the premium high modulus SCIII graphite of the blank and the trusted tapers will have a lot to do with it.
