More and more anglers are getting into the game of “Trout Spey” – using light, two-handed rods for trout fishing. If you are new at this, it can be a little confusing as to what line you should put on your rod. Here are our top 2 line recommendations for fishing with a Trout Spey rod.
Probably the best option is to use our new InTouch Trout Spey line – an integrated, easy-casting line that gives a light presentation on the water, and can be fished with regular leaders, VersiLeaders, or lightweight 10ft replacement tips. This line is perfect for fishing dries, nymphs, soft hackles and light streamers.
If you are going to fish big streamers and sink tips, a much better option is the new InTouch Skagit Trout Spey line. This is a powerful integrated line, with a short head to which you add a light MOW sink tip (or floating tip). It will cast the largest of streamers, heavily weighted nymphs and big terrestrial patterns with ease – even on super lightweight #2 and #3 Trout Spey rod sizes.
