Managing Director Heather Parry said: “We have created The Fishing Show which will be the first large scale event of its kind in Yorkshire. More rod licences were sold in Yorkshire than anywhere else in England and fishing is one of the most popular sports in the UK. We know the demand is out there and the response we have had from the industry already has been overwhelming. We look forward to welcoming experienced anglers to those who want to find out more about fishing, here at the Great Yorkshire Showground in June!”

Marina Gibson who lives near Leyburn is the new face of angling, promoting the sport to more than 33,000 of her Instagram followers as well as writing for magazines including a column in Fieldsports, hosting corporate days on the River Test and representing Orvis, the country pursuits brand with a store in West Park, Harrogate.
Marina said: “I’m so excited to be involved in the first ever ‘The Fishing Show’! There’s so much fishing in Yorkshire and its surrounding areas so it’s the perfect stepping stone for people who need that first bit of advice to get them through the starting barrier. The enthusiasm that the team behind it has shown so far has been above and beyond. The whole ethos behind the show is to be as inclusive as possible, targeting families, children, millennials and of course all ages, sex and abilities. Whether you already fish or you want to give it a go there will be something for everyone whether that be coarse, fly fishing, demos, advice, instructors, tackle, clothing and the list goes on… See you there!”

Cumbrian based Paul Procter is one of the most well-known and enthusiastic fly fishermen in the UK. A Vice President of the Wild Trout Trust, Paul is extremely passionate about the environment and the future of angling.  Working closely with Mackenzie Fly Fishing and Yorkshire based Semperfli companies, Paul is keen to promote angling at the many events and talks he attends.

Paul said he’s delighted to be involved in the inaugural ‘The Fishing Show.’ “An event like this has been long overdue in Yorkshire and I’m looking forward to sharing my knowledge with the visitors.  For once the organisers have listened and it appears there will be talks, demonstrations, workshops and advice for rank beginners right through to those who waft a rod on a more regular basis.  Most of all, we must cater for youngsters, ladies and families to show them how easy and fun fishing can be!”
