In this episode, RIO brand manager Simon Gawesworth fishes a small stream in Wyoming, populated only with native cutthroat trout. This film concentrates on how to fish the tricky, but very effective technique known as the “Downstream Dry Fly”.
Simon’s tips include how to get a drag-free drift, how to carefully lengthen the line to avoid spooking a rising trout, and he gives some great advice on how close you should land the fly to a rising trout. Simon finishes the film by catching a magnificent cutthroat trout from a very tricky location.
In Case You Missed It…
In this week’s link to the previous RIO Fly Fishing Tip, Wayne Peterson explains and demonstrates how to unwrap a new leader (after removing it from the packing) to avoid tangling it. Enjoy!
