Half N’ Half Fly Tying Tutorial

The Half N’ Half is a classic baitfish imitation. The dumbbell eyes give the fly a great “jiggy” action, and the flash underbody ensures the profile of the fly stays thick and catches the predator’s eye. I’ve caught everything from Bluefish to Smallmouth on these guys. Really, anything that eats another fish will eat a Half N’ Half. Anything. Seriously.

Some of my favorite colors are olive over white (shown in the video), blue over white, and chartreuse over white. You can change up the size of hook, feather, or dumbbell eye to better imitate the baitfish in your local waters, and change the depth/ amount of jig the fly will have in the water!
