Caddis adults are often found in fast riffles, and when targeting fish in these locations you want a fly that will float well, is easy to see and still be an excellent representation of an adult fly.
RIO’S FOAM RUN CADDIS
RIO’s Foam Run Caddis is the perfect choice for fishing in riffles. This pattern comes in Tan, Olive, and for October Caddis, Orange.
RIO’S TIGHTLINE CADDIS
On most days during summer, adult female caddis flies return to the water to lay their eggs. RIO’s Tightline Caddis allows you to cast across the current, where the fly will float briefly, then be pulled under and swing just subsurface – mimicking the egg laying caddis. The CDC and Poly materials traps air and release bubbles just like the naturals. The grabs on this fly are not gentle!
RIO’S BIG BONED CADDIS
Take the best features of the deadly Chubby Chernoby and rework them into a caddis sized, caddis shaped fly, and you get RIO’s Big-Boned Caddis. This extraordinarily effective caddis fly floats high, is easy to see on long casts or in low light, and has a two-tone poly wing that gives the indication of a fluttering wing – which is the trout version of ringing the dinner bell!
In case you missed it…
In this week’s RIO Fly Fishing Tip, Wayne Peterson shows off a really neat trick to help anglers see tiny dry flies on the water at distance. Enjoy.
