L.L. Bean set to open first Canadian store

Following last year’s launch of a website and catalogue specifically targeted at the Canadian market, US fly fishing tackle and outdoor brand, L.L. Bean is to open its first store in the country.

In partnership with the Jaytex Group, a 40-year-old distributor of brand name apparel, it will open a retail outlet in Oakville Place, just outside Toronto. The company’s gear and clothing will also be featured as ‘shops-in-shops’ in many Hudson Bay stores across Canada, including Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver.

“We have had a long, meaningful relationship with Canadian customers for decades, so we are thrilled to be able to give our loyal fans there a true and comprehensive omni-channel L.L. Bean experience with a dedicated website, catalogues and now a retail store,” said Stephen Smith, President and CEO of L.L. Bean.

“As a Maine-based company that shares a lot of commonalities with our northern neighbours, we are eager to be infusing a bit of the Maine essence and L.L. Bean brand into the Canadian market.”

The store is set to open on Friday, August 23. L.L. Bean operates 44 outlets in 18 states across the US, along with 28 in Japan.
