Fishpond’s acquisition of fellow award-winning US brand Tacky Fly Fishing will stimulate a range of new products for next year, says the manufacturer of premium luggage and accessories.

Fishpond, known for its eco-friendly products, will introduce recycled materials into nine new storage systems being included in its 2020 line-up, along with new colours, packaging and different sizes.

 

 

Tacky is recognised for being the first to market with boxes that replaced traditional foam inserts with silicone and a durable plastic shell, and for swapping the latched closure system for a magnetic latchless solution. The Utah company has since earned six IFTD Best of Show awards.

 

 

Tacky’s founders and other team members, including Tim Jenkins, Shaun Curtis, Eric Aston and Ki Aston, will remain with the company following the acquisition. “Both brands have an extensive history of disrupting the industry with products and features never seen before,” says Fishpond. “Tacky’s values of creative design and innovative functionality made the decision to bring the brand under the Fishpond umbrella an easy one.”

 

 

John Le Coq, Founder and CEO of Fishpond, said his company’s line of products had been ‘amplified’ by the acquisition. “We share a creative spirit and a dedication to bringing new ideas and designs to the market,” he said. Tacky President Tim Jenkins added that the two companies quickly realised they could be more impactful by partnering. “Our companies are built on the principle of doing more for our communities, for our industry and for the places we cherish,” he added.
