EFTTA has appointed a globe-trotting angling journalist, Olivier Portrat, as its new CEO.
He replaces Jean-Claude Bel, who retired at the end of October following more than a decade in the role.
Portrat held management roles with a number of companies in France before giving up the corporate lifestyle in 1992 to make his living as an angling and outdoor writer and photographer.
The son of a German father and French mother, he speaks fluent German, French and English and also has knowledge of Italian, Spanish and Dutch.
He has been unveiled as the new head of the trade association at the relaunch of the European Parliament RecFishing Forum last Tuesday in Strasbourg.
