The Exhibit on Loan from American Museum of Fly Fishing.

The exhibit, on loan from the prestigious American Museum of Fly Fishing (AMFF) in Vermont, is a journey through time, filled with the men, women, places and innovations that have made saltwater fly fishing one of the fastest growing sectors of the exciting and dynamic angling industry. Visitors will enjoy tracing the history of saltwater fly fishing through displays of evolving tackle, ranging from fascinating home improvements on early equipment to the incredibly efficient gear of today that allow saltwater anglers to successfully target fish in ways that were inconceivable not long ago. Displays will also include a remarkable photographic record from the earliest days of the sport.

“We were approached by the AMFF about four years ago as they were in the development stage with this unique exhibit,” said Jill Miranda Baker, executive director of Discovery Center. “With Islamorada being the sportfishing capital of the world attracting anglers from around the globe, it was most fitting to bring this fabulous exhibit to the Discovery Center in Islamorada.”

On Fly in the Salt is on exhibit now through March 1, 2020. The Discovery Center is open Wednesdays through Sundays, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
