The organisers of the Experience the World of Fly Fishing are delighted to have Hoagy B. Carmichael, the well-known fly fisher, rod maker, author and collector of antique fly fishing tackle, from New York at the EWF.

Hoagy B. Carmichael began fishing for trout with a fly in 1967. His interest in rod building began in 1969 when he met Everett Garrison and by 1973 he had produced the film about the great rod maker, “Making the Garrison Fly Rod.” When Garrison died, Carmichael bought his tools and began making his own bamboo rods. In 1977 he published a book about Garrison’s unique rod building methods, “A Master’s Guide to Building a Bamboo Fly Rod” which is in its eighth printing.
