True or false: fly fishing is difficult, fly fishing is expensive, you can only do it abroad and with a fly rod you only catch small, insignificant fish? Not true at all. But what is it really? You will find answers to these and many other questions at the Fly Fair, which will be held on 9th and 10th of May at the Berenkuil fish ponds in Putten, the Netherlands.
During this internationally renowned fly fishing festival you can experience how much fun and easy fly fishing is in practice. By a free crash course you will be updated on the spot: you will tie your first artificial fly and in a short time you learn the basic cast to catch your first fish a few minutes later.
Meet & greet the experts
Do you want to know nice spots for fly fishing? Ask your questions at one of the info tables where specialists advice you. Or participate in one of the many workshops. Are you a novice in casting? Come and visit the Casting Four, they will support you. And the more advanced fly fishermen can improve their skills by attending the workshops of the international casters of the EFFA.
Is fly tying a part of your (new) hobby? Then you are at the right place at the Fly Fair. Renowned fly tiers from more than fifteen (!) countries show what is possible. Or visit the tying theater where specialists show and explain how they work.
Fun & more
You also can enjoy shopping at the Fly Fair, that goes without saying. New or second-hand, from hook size 20 to supersonic casting rods, from wading sticks to complete belly boats or canoes, everything is on display and for sale. Tired of all impressions? Then relax on one of the terraces along the waterfront. Or have a snack in the restaurant.
