ORVIS: How to Fish a Seam at the Head of a Pool

The head of a pool often features an inside seam that separates the main current and an eddy. Trout love to set up inside that stream, where they can relax in the eddy but have access to the steady supply of food drifting along the seam. In this great episode of “Master Class Monday,” Dave Jensen walks you through his thought process, rigging, and approach as he tries to catch a big rising trout.

From his fly choice to his leader dimensions to his presentation, Dave’s decisions are all based on what he actually sees in front of him. He’s making a few guesses, but they are informed guesses. And when things don’t work out immediately, he reassesses his data and tries another solution. There’s so much to learn here.
