K.C. Walsh, a lifelong angler and dedicated conservationist, was selected for one of the three seats available by Governor Greg Gianforte (Republican) from an impressive list of candidates. The Executive Chairman of Simms Fishing Products has been chosen for one of the coveted positions on Montana’s Fish and Wildlife Commission.

He acquired Simms in 1993 and moved it from Jackson, Wyoming, to Bozeman, Montana, close to some of the best fly fishing rivers in the world. A year later Simms became the only US manufacturer to have a licence to use Goretex in its waders. In 25 years under the leadership of Walsh as President, the company expanded into fishing apparel, packs and accessories and, more recently, established a presence in the bass fishing market. He became Executive Chairman in 2017.

Today Simms’ 80,000 square feet factory in Bozeman is the country’s only manufacturing facility for waders. In 2016 it received the President’s ‘E’ award in recognition of its export business.
