Improved weather brings on the duckfly on Corrib

Declan Gibbons reports that the improved temperatures have seen a big increase in duckfly hatches over the last week. With the improved weather over the weekend a lot more anglers were out and catches have improved further.

The first day of the Experience the World of Fly Fishing, on Saturday the 1st of April at Event Forum Fürstenfeld in Fürstenfeldbruck near Munich, turned out to be warm, sunny and busy. The number of visitors was about the same as last year on the first day of this two day event.

Irish Specimen Fish Committee report 2016 released

As well as the new record smooth hound, detailed information on 485 specimen fish (i.e. large fish) taken by anglers from venues throughout Ireland in 2016 are presented.

The new report has details of 41 different species of specimen fish taken by anglers in 2016 in Ireland. 28 different species (including bass, common skate, gilthead bream, various species of mullet, several species of ray, etc) were taken by sea anglers.
