After hours of work, the final ranking of the different categories of the German Open Fly Tying Championship, could eventually be made. The winners will receive a certificate, a medal and/or the book on the Experience the World of Fly Fishing. This year there were entrees from more different countries than ever before.

The four judges, Hans Eiber, Werner Steinsdorfer, Heinz Zöldi and Rudy van Duijnhoven, checked the flies on tying technique, neatness, the choice of materials, proportions and overall look.
There was a maximum of 20 points to be earned in each of the sections, so one hundred points in total. In the Dry Fly Category two flies had to be send in, a Panama and a pattern of their own choice. Because two flies were judged, the total number of points that could be earned was twice as high.
The first three in the category of Dry Flies were:
1. Györfi Zolt
2. Marc Schweizer
3. Michal Wierzbicki
The first three placing in the category of Realistic Flies:
1. Adrian Hauser
2. Eugene Borovin
3. Regine Maghuna
The highest three placings in the category of Streamers:
1. Robin Petterson
2. Stephen Schubert
3. Walter Luzi
