Remembering Leigh Perkins
Many tributes will be penned in honor of Leigh H. Perkins, who passed away on May 7 at the age of 93. The American Museum of Fly Fishing simply would not be here today without him, and we are forever indebted. Leigh was a founding trustee in 1968 and served on our Board for the next 53 years. The Museum grew from a small exhibit space in the Orvis flagship store to an institution that now houses the vastest collection of fly fishing history in the world. Leigh was there every step of the way. His passion for, and contributions to, the sport of fly fishing remain unmatched. We have lost a great patron and cherished friend. Our thoughts are with the Perkins family and all those who hold a special place in their heart for Leigh. We will be highlighting Leigh’s extraordinary career in a future edition of our journal – The American Fly Fisher.
