There is quite nothing more effective than a deep-fished nymph for the big trout and grayling in the streams and rivers. But the technique of small heavy nymphs tied and fished on small jig hooks offers some additional advantages compared to the traditional nymph hooks. The hook tip, which will automatically turn upwards, ensures that the hook will not get stuck as often, so you can fish deeper and longer all the way down between rocks and snags without getting stuck and breaking the tippet and loosing the fly. The method is often referred to as Czech nymphing as it originally comes from the Czech streams.
