With Niklaus Bauer & John Kärki | Flymaniacs
#Flymaniacs is back on track! This time we take a deep dive into world of perch fishing with a fly rod. This topic has been something you guys asked for us to cover so many times. So we decided to really cover the sport of fly fishing for perch. The idea is simple: We follow two experienced perch fly anglers Niklaus Bauer and John Kärki when they explore a totally new and unknown lake for couple days with good size perch in their minds. We wanted to show you both techniques and tactics but most importantly the thinking behind everything.
These episodes will include everything; bottom style grain line techniques where the fly needs to drop fast to the bottom level and on the other hand top water popper and crease fly techniques. And lots of things and flies between those.
Perch is a perfect fish to target with a fly rod. It’s very predatory fish and widely spread in different corners around the world. It’s definitely a winner in climate change, which will have its effect in the future as well. It can be very challenging fish sometimes, on the other hand when the bite is on it can be full of crazy action. The big ones are usually a different challenge as they are older and more wise individuals, usually the angler gets fooled before the fish.
