The Dutch Fly Fair is coming up again on the 17th and 18th of May! As a fly fisher you cannot afford to miss this event.

Location: ’t Smallert at Emst
’t Smallert is beautifully centrally located in the Netherlands and easily accessible via the A50 or A28. The Dutch Federation of Fly Fishers (VNV) is delighted that the Dutch Fly Fair will now be building the pagoda village in Emst for the second time.

The Fly Fair is a unique event for fly fishing and outdoor enthusiasts. This year we have an extensive range again: interesting exhibitors, fly tiers, representatives of travel organizations; there will also be lectures, workshops and fly casting demos. A lot of information will also be provided about lodges, rivers & guiding. The belly boats will also be there. There is a full day program, an event that brings together many fly fishers every two years.

Stand holders
As always, the Fly Fair will offer space to various exhibitors. The shopkeepers will be happy to tell you more about their products or services. We have already shared a lot of information on the Facebook page of the Dutch Fly Fair.

Special stand holders
In the big tent we have also made room for a few smaller exhibitors. They show high quality products that are interesting for every visitor: Renomed ‘Design that lasts a lifetime’, Naukeli Fly Tying Tools, Materials & expertly crafted Flies. For lovers of splitcane and the craft of rod building there are ‘Masters’ present this year: Rene Beaumont, Jack Oele and Ids Schukken. They provide information about their rod building. Ids also shows his titanium Design Reels.

Fly-tiers
We are proud to welcome a large group of tiers from home and abroad in a large tent this year. Very specialized tiers will show how they tie their flies. David Jedlicka will show what he makes with ‘Alpine Hare – Custom dubbing and CDC-feathers’.

Fly-tiers

We will see the beautiful salmon flies of John Schets and Henk van Bork, Sacha Pütz and other, by now old acquaintances of the Fly Fair. For more information, visit: www.flyfair.nl.

Workshops
This edition will also feature the well-known Fly Fair workshops. A fun program has been put together for both the novice and the more experienced fly fisher. If you want to go fishing for seatrout in Denmark, Omar Gade – one of our partners – will talk about the ‘Technique and Tactics’ involved.

This year we will also try out a ‘Live-stream-tying session’, with Bas van Dam and Gordon van der Spuy from South Africa. Fishing in Ireland and England will be discussed. Of course, the workshops and lectures are free of charge.

Second hand offers
Harry and Adolfo manage the second-hand fair. In the morning, every visitor can bring in material, rods, tools and the like. If you are still looking for a nice rod or just that one special reel, you can probably find what you are looking for at the fair. During the previous edition, there were many articles that changed hands like this. Be sure to take a look in the pagoda near the fishing pond.

Fly casting
The Casting Four will be present on their fly casting course. It is even possible to sign up for an individual casting lesson from an instructor. Sign-up sheets are in the fly tying tent of VVC The Kingfisher.

In addition, the EFFA will also be present, providing demonstrations of single-handed and double-handed fly casting. If you have any questions about casting or could use a little improvement in your technique, come to the Fly Fair!

Catering
’t Smallert has its own kitchen and restaurant. In addition, there will be a distribution point in the middle of the pagoda village.
