Recreational fishing in Sweden is set to benefit from new funding of 1m krona in 2019.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The boost will come from Sportfiskarna, the country\u2019s representative body for the sport, which is allocating the money as part of its centenary celebrations. Sportfiskarna, which is dedicated to preserving a sustainable fishing industry, has 400 affiliated associations that are invited to apply for grants to carry out fishery conservation work and other related activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sportfiskarna, Sweden\u2019s recreational fishing representative body, is giving away one million krona in grants aspart of its centenary celebrations. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOur associations across the country are an incredibly powerful resource that is of major importance,\u201d said Joakim Oll\u00e9n, Sportfiskarna\u2019s Chairman. \u201cDuring the 2019 anniversary year we want to stimulate even more activity by distributing a million krona.\u201d Sportfiskarna sets aside funding each year, but describes next year\u2019s allocation as \u2018record skyhigh\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sportfiskarna\u2019s key objectives include conservation efforts, sustainable fishing initiatives, lobbying for pro-fishing legislation and growing participation. Sport fishing is one of Sweden\u2019s most important leisure activities, with two million anglers spending more than 5b krona each year. The association\u2019s membership journal, Svenskt Fiske, is Sweden\u2019s largest fishing magazine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
