Award Ceremony To Be Held Online October 28 at 8:00 p.m. EDT<\/strong><\/p>\n The Fly Fishers International (FFI) Awards and Nominations Committee is proud to announce the recipients of the 2020 FFI awards. These prestigious awards recognize and reward those individuals and organizations that have advanced the sport of fly fishing, including notable achievement in fly tying, casting, fly fishing skills, and conservation. In addition, the Fly Fishers International Awards Program reflect the spirit of FFI\u2019s mission to actively preserve the legacy of fly fishing for all fish, all waters through the focus areas of conservation, education and community.<\/strong><\/p>\n While the awards are typically presented during the annual Awards Banquet at FFI\u2019s annual International Fly Fishing Expo, this year FFI will celebrate recipients in an online awards ceremony on October 28 at 8:00 p.m. EDT. \u201cIt is considered a great honor to receive one of these awards, each of which represent a tremendous commitment to the legacy of fly fishing,\u201d said FFI President and CEO Patrick Berry. \u201cOnly through the dedication of these individuals and organizations can we ensure we sustain our collective passion for future generations. \u201c<\/p>\n <\/p>\n This year Mustad & Sons received the Lee Wulff Award which recognizes a manufacturer or retail business that demonstrates outstanding innovation in the fly fishing industry through their products and stewardship. Mustad\u2019s Hooked on Sustainable Fishing initiative released in late 2019 was a clear winner for its ambition and innovation across Mustad\u2019s manufacturing and business practices. \u201cWe\u2019re honored to receive the prestigious Lee Wulff Award,\u201d said Jordan Davis, President and CEO of Mustad & Sons. \u201cThe success of the fly fishing industry is inextricably tied to the health of the natural systems where we ply our pursuits. It\u2019s humbling to be given such recognition by others in the angling industry.\u201d<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n The chairman of FFI\u2019s Board of Directors Dave Peterson added, “Fly Fishers International\u2019s awards represent our efforts to recognize the extraordinary contributions that our members and the fly fishing community make in so many areas. Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing-LaPlata, Maryland An award is based upon a single extraordinary contribution or on a continuous prominent effort promoting comprehensive fly fishing education. Extraordinary contributions are those that are superior and conspicuous in relation to others and consistent with the philosophies of the FFI.<\/p>\n The Buz Buszek Fly Tying Award<\/strong> Jerry Coviello -Chalfont, Pennsylvania<\/em>. An award presented to the person who has made significant contributions to the arts of fly tying.<\/p>\n The Darwin Atkin Memorial Fly Tying Achievement Award<\/strong> Dutch Baughman – Southlake, Texas<\/em>. An award presented to the person who has made significant contributions to the art of fly tying.<\/p>\n The Dick Nelson Fly Tying Teaching Award<\/strong> Jere Anderson \u2013 Plano, Texas<\/em>. An award presented to an individual who excels in teaching the art of fly tying to tiers at all skill levels.<\/p>\n The Conservation Award<\/strong> Whit Fosburgh of the Theodore Roosevelt Conservation Partnership \u2013 Washington DC<\/em>. An award presented to a person, group or organization which has made extraordinary contributions to the conservation of our fisheries resources in the past year.<\/p>\n The Leopold Award<\/strong> Russ Thurow \u2013 Salmon, ID<\/em>. An award presented to an individual honoring them for a lifetime of fisheries conservation effort and work.<\/p>\n The Mel Krieger Fly Casting Instructor Award<\/strong> Dwight Klemin \u2013 Salem, Oregon Keith Richards – Breaux Bridge, Louisiana<\/em>.
