A leading fly fishing brand is doing its bit for the environment by backing a UK-based line recycling scheme. Airflo-Fishing Products has announced its support of the Anglers National Line Recycling Scheme (ANLRS) and is working with the organisation in promoting the initiative to its customers.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Gareth Jones, the company\u2019s Sales Director, said: \u201cIn a world of consumables we are excited to work with the ANLRS to provide our customers with a real option to recycle old fly lines rather than add them to the increasing problem of landfill. \u201cWorking with Viv Shears at ANLRS, we were quickly able establish that our PVC-free fly lines are suitable for its unique methods of recycling via its recycling partner, Reworked, and we are keen to promote this solution to our customers.<\/p>\n

Solution<\/h3>\n

\u201cANLRS offers a fantastic solution that not only avoids landfill of old fly lines and disregarded tippet materials to turn them into useful material that can be converted for a broad range of uses. The scheme also accepts plastic spools. \u201cWith over 320 tackle shops and more than 150 fisheries, including a number of trout venues, having signed up to offer recycling bins for their customers, there is now no reason to discard fishing lines in any other manner.<\/p>\n

\u201cNot only has ANLRS provided a solution for old fly lines, it has also provided us with a real recycling option for our manufacturing waste through its UK-based partners. As a fishing company we have a duty to support this incredibly innovative solution. I strongly recommend other tackle manufacturers to reach out to ANLRS and support the scheme.<\/p>\n

Promote the scheme<\/h3>\n

\u201cOver the course of the season, we will work together on ideas of how best we can promote the scheme across angling and find easy ways to help recycle even more old fly lines.\u201d Shears added: \u201cWe are delighted to be working with Airflo in our work to reduce the amount of fishing lines that end up in landfill or the aquatic environment. Its annual donation and support will help us to expand the scheme across the UK and beyond.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs an innovative and environmentally aware company, the fact that it is now using our recycling partners for its production waste recycling speaks volumes about Airflo. Its support of the ANLRS and commitment to ensuring as much of its plastic production waste is recycled is an approach all fishing tackle manufacturers should seriously consider becoming involved in. \u201cWith wider trade support the potential for the recycling of fishing related plastics, from line to SUPs, is endless and we look forward to hearing from any other manufacturer that would like to discuss how to get involved.\u201d<\/p>\n
