The angling club “Kreisfischereiverein e.V. D\u00fcren” has some interesting fly-water on sixteen kilometers of the RIver Rur reserved for its members. With Cora Nicolasen I fished a number of stretches there in early September.<\/strong><\/p>\n

There are even flowing stretches as well as fast, narrow runs on this water which is not too far from Aachen and K\u00f6ln. The water is on average 25 to 30 meters wide.

\"Guests
Guests can fish the many stretches too, but they need to be accompanied by a member of the club. The club was founded in 1936 and is therefore eighty years old now!

We fished here together with the chairman of the club, Hermann Josef Koch. Over the weekend he was rather successful with dry sedges fished downstream.<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The long, even flowing stretches are easy to wade, but can be deep in some places.<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

A nice rainbow trout on a Blue Dun dry fly fished upstream.<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The river holds good populations of brown trout too, the grayling has suffered from the cormorants in the past but is coming back nicely as well. Some barbel can be found in the very last stretch downstream of the city of D\u00fcren.<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

A nice quality rainbow trout, also caught on a dry fly fished upstream.<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

A nice brown trout that took the weighted nymph close to the shoreline, far under some overhanging branches.<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
