The American Museum of Fly Fishing (AMFF) is proud to announce that Steve Huff, a revered figure in the angling community and a pioneer in saltwater fly fishing, has been selected as the recipient of the 2025 Izaak Walton Award. This distinguished honour is presented annually to individuals who embody the legacy of conservation and sportsmanship espoused by Izaak Walton, author of\u00a0The Compleat Angler.<\/strong><\/p>\n

For over five decades, Steve Huff has set the gold standard in guiding, mentoring, and advocating for ethical angling practices. Widely regarded as one of the most accomplished and respected guides in the history of the sport, Huff has influenced generations of anglers and played a critical role in shaping modern saltwater fly fishing.<\/p>\n

\u201cSteve Huff is more than a legend\u2014he\u2019s a cornerstone of our sport,\u201d said Gary Grant, President of the American Museum of Fly Fishing. \u201cHis unwavering dedication to conservation, his skill on the water, and his generosity in sharing knowledge make him an ideal recipient of the Izaak Walton Award.\u201d<\/p>\n

The award will be presented at a special ceremony on Monday, December 8, 2025, at the historic Key Largo Anglers Club in Key Largo, Florida. Paul Bruun will serve as guest speaker and offer a heartfelt tribute to Steve Huff as we celebrate our honoree\u2019s extraordinary contributions to fly fishing. The evening will bring together friends, colleagues, and admirers from across the country in recognition of Huff\u2019s enduring legacy.<\/p>\n

AMFF extends special thanks to the event\u2019s Dinner Committee for their support and leadership: Mona Brewer, Paul Bruun, Jim Lepage, David Mangum, Sandy Moret, and Heather Post.<\/p>\n

Established in 2007, the Izaak Walton Award honors individuals who advance the museum\u2019s mission to preserve and promote the history and culture of fly fishing. Past recipients include luminaries Bob Popovics, Guido Rahr, Nancy Zakon, Paul Bruun, Paul Dixon, Flip Pallot, Tom Rosenbauer, Rachel Finn, Jim Klug, James Prosek, Tom Davidson, and Ed Jaworowski.<\/p>\n
