Under sunny, Spring circumstances the Youth Fly-Fishing Event of the Dutch Federation of Fly-Fishers (VNV) was a major success. The event was held on Sunday the 9th of April at trout-fishery Ruigenhoek in Utrecht.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The day started with getting to know different water-insects, learning to tie some first flies and fly-casting instruction.<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

A total of 34 children up to the age of sixteen attended the day.<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The Ruigenhoek is situated in the central of the Netherlands, an ideal place to hold an event like this.<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The afternoon was spend on the largest of the two trout lakes here.<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Casting into the wind is far from easy for a newcomer to fly-fishing. But the shore were the wind is blowing towards is often were trout can be found.<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

A pair of sunglasses is important to protect the eyes and to find trout moving in the lake.<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Even one of the mothers got so enthusiastic that she wanted to try it for herself.<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

A good number of trout were landed, often even on flies the children had tied themselves!<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
