Some 26 splitcane rod-builders and people that want to learn this craftsmanship came to trout fishery the Berenkuil in Nijkerk on Saturday the 22nd of April, 2017, for a Contact Day during which they could exchange ideas, tips, etc.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The day was an initiative of Peter den Hollander and Patrick Mercy (behind the table). Peter den Holland gave workshops on selecting and splicing the bamboo.

After a welcome and a first presentation by Patrick Mercy people could take part in a number of workshops, given by among others Kees van der Hulst (left in the picture).<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Leen Huisman (middle) had brought several nice pieces of splitcane rod-building to the event.<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

It takes at least forty hours to build one splitcane fly-rod from splicing the tubes to the last drops of lacquer. Leen Huisman admires a rod build by Charles Boshoven.<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
