The weather was much better than expected (just one shower in the morning and not too much wind) when on Saturday the 21st of October the Dutch Championship in Fly-fishing for Trout was fished at Tavern \u2018t Mun in Appeltern.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Nine teams that represented different trout fisheries in the Netherlands took in the final. Every team consisted of five fly-fishers that had fished themselves in the team through competitions at the trout fisheries.<\/p>\n

The drawing was done at 7.00 hours in the morning, the first session started at 8.30 hours.<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

 <\/p>\n

John Arens fishing. Every participant would fish eight sessions of 25 minutes, the participants were divided in two groups.\u00a0<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Every trout that was caught would mean 1 point for the competition fly-fisher, the time of the capture within a session was also of importance for the ranking.<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Tino Groentjes fishing in the competition. A ranking was made for each session, these would later be added to each other. It was therefore of importance to catch trout in as many sessions as possible.<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

It looked like the trout congregated at both ends of the pond, this is where most of the fish were caught.<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The competition was fished following the \u201ccatch & release\u201d principle. The pond of \u2018t Mun was hired the following day by a group of people, all trout that would be caught this day were going to be be killed and smoked, after which they would be donated to a food bank; a nice initiative.<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Every trout was supposed to be landed with a landing net. It was only allowed to fish with barbless flies tied on hooks less than 2,75 cm in length and with a properly pressed down barb. It was allowed to make use of a strike indicator as well as to add some split shot to the leader to get the fly down.<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The points are added for every participant. The final was organised by the NVVF, the Dutch Federation of Trout Fisheries and Tavern \u2018t Mun in Appeltern.<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
