Theme: Effective Casts to Conquer Currents and Obstructions
Instructor: Thibaut Giband
Thibaut’s demo will show techniques to effectively present a fly with obstacles between you and the fish, how to fight drag with curved or slack line, and placing a fly under branches. He’ll explain and demonstrate basic and advanced casts, line management techniques, all with a classic outfit (except a longer leader) so that the spectators can take some tricks home with them.

Theme: The History of Fly Casting
Instructor: Roman Moser
We’ll accompany Roman through the history of the fly cast. From the very beginning to English and American styles; the Gebetsroiter style will, of course, be a part of this informative demonstration. Roman himself is a living part of fly fishing history and that makes this casting demo a “must” for every EWF visitor.

Theme: Traditional and Modern Spey Casting
Instructor: Gary Scott
Gary will provide, beginning with the roll cast (the basis of all Spey casts) a colorful review of Spey casting techniques from the past to modern methods such as the snake roll.

Instructor: Silja Longhurst
Silja is an enthusiastic angler for sea trout and is also very successful in competition casting. She will show us how to use competition techniques, in a meaningful fashion, for coastal angling.

Way will cover the basic fundamental physics behind casting, that is, “what makes a fly cast tick” – from “two dimensional” overhead casting progressing to Spey style casts. We’ll see a presentation on basic fundamental “building blocks”, and take it “three dimensional”.

What rods and lines do you need and what should you pay attention to when casting these “half chickens”?
