A look at the New Product Stand at EFTTEX 2016 at the Rai in Amsterdam, where numerous firms present their new products for the coming season in different categories.
The first day of the tradeshow EFTTEX 2016 passed quickly as there are so many new things to see at this show. New fly-rods, fly-lines, leaders, tippet material, clothing, waders, flies, flytying products etc. Three days are probably not enough to see all the new products, if you are interested in other angling methods as well. Below are the first of some of the new products on display, remember that most of these products will arrive in the shops across the world in 2017 probably.
The Rio Coastal QuickShooter as a new line for the seatrout and seabass fly-fisher in saltwater. The line has a short front taper that easily turns over baitfish and shrimp patterns in typical coastal winds and has a short, easy casting head to help the rod load at close range. It has a supple core and coating that will not tangle in cooler conditions and a clear, easy loading head that empowers the cast at close range. The line is available in WF5I to WF8I.
Rio will also come out with a DVD with some of the most used fly-fishing knots.
The Rio InTouch Big Nasty will cast most “half chickens” which are meant for pike with ease.
Shimano does not come out too often with a new fly-reel, but this Asquith is worth looking at with an excellent drag systeem and the use of high quality materials which make it possible to use the reel in saltwater conditions as well.
The all-new Redington Rise is, in three colour combinations, a lightweight, high-performance fly reel with a modern aesthetic. It features a smooth compact carbon drag system, fully machined, anodized 6061-T6 aluminium construction and thoughtful features like Redington’s proprietary twin-molded soft-touch handles and a U-shaped large arbor for speedy line retrieve.
The Redington Predator is a new series of moderately priced fly-rods designed to cast big flies for pike and musky and to handle these fish with easy after hooking one of them.
The new 6200 Series bij Sage is fully machined with cold forged, tempered 6061-T6 aluminum, housing the proven Sealed Carbon System (SCS) Drag. The 6200 features a super rigid frame-to-spool connection, a widened palming rim, a large/vented arbor for high retrieve rate and SAGE’s One Revolution Drag Knob with 40 detented drag settings for adjustable and repeatable drag resolution. Finished with SAGE’s Essential Collection’s unique porting pattern and spoke aesthetic, the 6200 will be your go-to reel for the full range of fishing scenarios.
Sage is starting their own X-files with the introduction of the new X series fly-rods which will replace the Sage One in the near future. The top of the line fly-rod has a deep green colour under the right light. It will appear on the market in no less than 35 models!
At the casting pool in the middle of the hall of the Rai convention center the new fly-rods and lines can be tested.
