Ladies Salmon Fishing Course on the Tay

Glenda Powell can now confirm that her first Ladies Salmon Fishing Course on the Tay is fully booked with six ladies. Due to the demand and further interest she will be running a second Ladies Salmon fishing Course starting on Monday July 2nd and running for three days finishing on Wednesday evening at 5pm. The course will be run near Perth at Kercock, website: http://www.kercock.com.

“There will be a maximum of six ladies on the course and the entire beat has been reserved for this course for the three days to give us lots of space and full use of the fantastic hut to enable learning.

We will cover all the Roll/Spey casts, knot tying, safety around water and safe wading techniques, the salmon lifecycle, taking times and which flies to use for different water heights/colour and temperature.

We will be staying at the Tayside Hotel which is only ten minutes from Kercock and they will provide us with a single room each, breakfast, packed lunch for the river and an evening meal. The total cost of the package for the four nights accommodation with meals and the three day fly fishing for salmon course including fishing and equipment is € 800.

This course is based on learning but also it is about enjoying your fishing and having a good time on the water with other women. I will be happy to welcome you to this course.”

Fly Fishing Courses for 2018

“It is a great pleasure to announce our courses for 2018. This year we had people from far and wide attending these courses.

Each course costs € 150 which includes, fishing on our waters at Blackwater Salmon Fishery, equipment for the day, notes, lunch and we will take a maximum of six participants on each course. The course does not cover the state salmon fishing licence which costs € 20 for the day and can be purchased at the fishery on the morning of the course.

Courses in 2018 are as follows:

February 1st is Opening Day and we would like to welcome you to the start of the new season with a breakfast roll and a fun casting/gear clinic. Spaces are limited and the cost is € 15. Booking is essential please.

February 3rd I will be running a workshop on casting and fishing sinking/skagit lines and heavy flies at Kilmurry. The cost is € 150 per person including lunch and fishing. Maximum 6 participants (3 places left).

March 10th Spey Casting for improvers including lunch and fishing. The cost is € 150 per person. Maximum 6 participants (2 places left).

March 24th Spey Casting for beginners including lunch and fishing. The cost is € 150 per person. Maximum 6 participants (2 places left).

NEW COURSE May 5th Ladies Salmon Fly Fishing Course for beginners and improvers. The cost is €100 per person and €50 of this fee will be given to Action Breast Cancer. Maximum ten participants which will include lunch and equipment if required.

May 26th Single Handed Spey/Skagit casting, hitching flies and low water techniques. The cost is € 150 per person. Maximum 6 participants (2 places left).”
