Dates announced for Fly Fishers International Fly Fishing Faire in Glendale, California

Fresh- and saltwater fly-fishing demonstrations, classes and product exhibitors from California and beyond are on tap for the annual Fly Fishers International Fly Fishing Faire, Oct. 20-21 at the Glendale Civic Auditorium. Located at the base of the Verdugo Hills in suburban Los Angeles, the Civic Auditorium will be staffed by volunteers from the 22 sponsoring clubs of Southwest Council FFI.

The 11,000-square foot Spanish Revival/Art Deco exhibition facility is 10.5 miles from Hollywood/Burbank Airport, 10 minutes from the Pasadena Casting Club’s pond via free shuttle, 15 minutes from Downtown Los Angeles, 20 minutes from Universal Studios and 55 minutes from the beach in Santa Monica. Casting and fly tying lessons for men, women and children will be offered at the Glendale Civic, with more advanced casting and tying at the Pasadena Casting Club pond.

Fly Fishers International – formerly the International Federation of Fly Fishers – has been an organized voice for fly fishers since 1964, representing all aspect of the sport from the art of fly tying and casting, to protection of the natural systems that support healthy fisheries and their habitats essential to the sport.  The organization’s mission is to ensure the legacy of fly fishing for all fish in all waters continues by focusing on conservation, education and a sense of community.

“Previous Southwest Council FFI Fly Fishing Faires were held in the Eastern Sierra, but when the Glendale Civic became available, we grabbed the opportunity to be in the heart of the Greater Los Angeles megalopolis,” said Bill O’Kelly, council president.
