Japanese distributor, C&F, helped cement relationships with fly brands, Winston and Bauer, during a recent visit to the US company’s headquarters in Twin Bridges, Montana.
C&F Manager, Takehiro Sasaki, was accompanied by filmmaker, Daisuke Taki, from Flyfisher Magazine to document the Winston/Bauer factory and to fish the company’s new PURE series of rods.
Mr. Sasaki fished the rivers of Madison and Beaverhead counties and the small stream aficionado also discovered Mill Creek in Sheridan, where he caught wild rainbows from each of four pools. He fished with Bauer Manager, Jeff Evans, Customer Service Rep, Adam Hutchison, and rod designer Annette McClean, who ran some prototypes by him. “He showed us how to better fish our home creek,” said Jim Murphy, Vice President Winston and Bauer.
C&F, based in Tokyo, partnered with the US manufacturer two years ago. “They have over 40 dealers in Japan and are doing a great job for both our brands,” added Murphy. “Winston rods and Bauer reels are both a favourite in that expert market.”
