Travecy: a hidden gem in France

Testing a new reservoir is always challenging, especially with the Covid restrictions. One of my French friends give me last October a hint about the Travecy reservoir in the north of France (close to Saint-Quentin).

A few months later we can say that this is a hidden gem.

A few months later we can say that this is a hidden gem, with 3,5 hectare of water surrounded by woodland. The Travecy Reservoir has just received the National Angling Award ‘Mouche Passion’, and is the perfect place for a day’s fly fishing. Travecy is extremely well stocked with big quality rainbow trout that are locally reared.

This stillwater is also a boating venue, what is very exceptional for a small water reservoir, but it provides great opportunities! The shallow areas are rich in aquatic insect life and are the prime trout feeding ground on the reservoir.

Lots of 40 +, 50 +, some 60 + & 70 +, even a nearly 90 cm rainbow are the results of several journeys we did the last few months.
