Vista Outdoor receives rubber-stamp for its acquisition of Simms

Vista Outdoor has closed the deal to acquire leading fly brand Simms Fishing Products for $192.5 million, it announced by the end of August.

The deal, reported on the Angling International website in late July, means that Simms joins more than 40 other sporting and outdoor brands in the Vista portfolio. “The addition of Simms Fishing Products to the Vista family is transformational for our Outdoor Products segment,” said Chris Metz, CEO of Vista Outdoor. “As the anchor of our new fishing platform, Simms broadens our core addressable market into a new, highly-attractive category with a premium, innovative brand that boasts significant room for growth.” Metz added that Simms would remain at its Bozeman, Montana location and that CEO Casey Sheahan will continue to lead day-to-day operations there.

The current management team and employee base will also remain in place. K.C. Walsh, who purchased Simms in 1993 and is current Executive Chairman, will continue with the company as strategic advisor and conservation and government affairs advocate.
