Owner and chef, Joshua Schwartz, has been in the hospitality industry for over 30 years. Joshua grew up in a restaurant family where his grandpa Ronnie ran a catering business on Long Island and later opened a French bistro that Joshua would visit as a child. At a young age, Joshua caught the passion and knew he wanted to become a chef.

Joshua attended the New England Culinary Institute in Montpellier, Vermont and then began working in fine dining restaurants including Thomas Keller’s French Laundry, Bouchon and Per Se. He also spent time working for David Bouley at the original Bouley location in Tribeca. Most recently, Joshua oversaw the culinary program for Del Dotto Vineyards in the Napa Valley which is also when he started guiding for trout and steelhead in Northern California.

After over 15 years of bouncing between cooking and guiding, Joshua found a way to combine both of his passions.

After over 15 years of bouncing between cooking and guiding, Joshua found a way to combine both of his passions. He saw how happy his fishing clients were while being served a hot meal on a cold, rainy day or enjoying a spread of tasty snacks in the heat of the summer. Soon other guides started to pull their boats up to Joshua’s to see what was on the menu that day and sharing often followed. The concept took off in 2017 when Joshua was asked to join a fly-fishing trip as chef and soon, he was hosting his own fly-fishing expeditions, complete with gourmet food.

“I founded Travel Creel Hospitality out of a desire to combine my favorite trifecta: travel, fishing and cooking,” said Schwartz. “We offer adventures and experiences that will bring our clients pure joy and world-class hospitality. You cannot beat our fishing expeditions.”

Travel Creel Hospitality became a reality during its inaugural trip to Tillamook, Oregon in 2022, and now offers a full slate of destinations, each with amazing accommodations, top local guides and mind-blowing meals. Visit the Travel Creel website, Instagram and Facebook for more details on the crew, upcoming trips, private chef services and more.
