Our last day of fishing after the Experience the World of Flyfishing (EWF), we spend at the Goiserer Traun under sunny circumstances for most of the day. It turned out to become a special day, not just because of the weather.

The section of the Goiserer Traun starts where the river runs out of the Halstätter See, right there at the Holzwehr Steegwirt (wooden weir Steegwirt) is a nice guesthouse with the same name.

The stretch for which Hurch Flyfishing sells licenses is 4,2 km long and ends 100 meters above the Goiserer Brücke (Goiserer Bridge).

The river holds brown trout, lake trout and rainbow trout, but the special attraction are the large grayling that can be found here.

The first grayling I hooked and landed was 50 cm in length, a colourfull and strong fish.

The second fish was even bigger and took a Leadhead, like the other fish this day.

With 52 cm it was my second personal record this day!

The river is very shallow in some areas, but also holds pools that are three to five meters deep, it looks like.

Spawning colours on my third grayling of the day.

With 48 cm still an exceptional fish on the flyrod.

The grayling swims off; soon after that we decided to call it a day, as we still had to pack for the return trip to the Netherlands.
