The 27th International Fly Tying Symposium has a new home from next month – Lancaster, Pennsylvania. It will be held in the ballroom of the Marriott Hotel in the city on November 11th and 12th, a move made necessary following the closure of the Garden State Exhibit Center in Somerset, New Jersey.

“While the shuttering of the long-time Somerset venue came as a shock, the new venue is perfectly sized and offers far more facilities,” said Show Director,Chuck Furimsky. “It was sheer luck that the room was available.”

In addition to some 100 tiers from across the United States demonstrating their techniques and skills, there will also be representatives from the Netherlands, Italy, Canada and the United Kingdom. Featured tiers include Bob Clouser (‘My Latest New Patterns’), Tim Flagler (‘Flies That Catch Fish And Are Easy To Tie’), Charlie Craven (‘My Favourite Patterns’), Blane Chocklet (‘Trigger Flies and Game Changers’), Daniel Galhardo (‘Tying and Fishing Tenkara Flies’) and Robert Smith (‘Soft Hackle Techniques’).

Free seminars are also being held hourly from 10am to late afternoon, covering topics that will include ‘Live Insect Identification’, ‘Designing Flies That Trigger Strikes’, ‘Dry Flies And Matching The Hatch’, ‘Development Of The Wet Fly’, “Finding Success With Emergers’ and ‘Late Fall Fly Fishing’. Symposium admission is $12 each day or $22 for the weekend. Entrance is free for children under 16 years of age. Opening times are 9am to 5pm (Saturday) and 9am to 4.30pm (Sunday).
